Lego League

WHAT IS FIRST® LEGO LEAGUE?

FIRST LEGO League encourages students to explore and solve real world challenges through a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) based approach to learning. Students have the opportunity to learn and apply these skills within a team based environment and showcase their knowledge by participating in real world scientific challenges and competitions.

Explore Phase:

In 2024, students participated in the Explore phase, meeting for one hour a week after school to develop collaboration and problem solving skills, ready for the Challenge phase in 2025.

Challenge Phase:

The Challenge phase this year includes entry into the FIRST Lego League competition where students will represent Aspiri Primary School for the first time.

Over two school terms, teams of students aged 9- 16 years participate in two STEM problem-solving challenges: The Robot Challenge and the Innovation Project.

The Robot Challenge involves building and programming a LEGO robot to complete missions on a field. As part of the Innovation Project, students need to identify and solve a real-world problem.

Both challenges are undertaken with positive, collaborative principles that are celebrated at the high-energy, end-of-season competitions.
