Sustainability

Green Team

The Aspiri Green Team is composed of students from Year 4 to Year 6 who apply to join the team at the start of the year. The principal job of the Green Team is paper recycling. The Green Team also participate in other sustainability initiatives, such as waste collections and audits, planting opportunities, recycling drives and energy use monitoring, as well as presentations at assemblies.

In 2025, the Green Team had its first ‘Sustainability Day’. They went on a bush walk and rubbish clean up in Piara Waters Nature Reserve, attended a Water Corporation incursion and made bees wax wraps.

In 2026, the plan is to continue to expand the role of the Green Team in the school to lead sustainable practices and be role models for other students.

Sustainability

Aspiri Primary School has participated in many sustainable practices. Such as Waste-Free Wednesdays, Containers for Change, and Bin Chicken Recycling. Aspiri also collected plastic lids which senior students then made into creations such as key rings and bowls by using our very own plastic extruder. During the Festival of Aspiri we promoted sustainability by loaning the City of Armadale’s Blender Bike and encouraging attendees to help make their own delicious smoothies.

Waste Sorted Schools Accreditation

Aspiri reaccredited as a Waste Sorted School in 2025. Accreditation lasts 3 years. This accreditation allows Aspiri to gain access to free Professional Learning, school incursions and resources
